How to make a Tutu

This is what you need:

  • Tulle: About 6 yards of favorite color.
  • Elastic Band: depending of measurement
  • Ruler or tape measure
  • Scissors
  • Embellishments (flowers, ribbons, pompoms, etc)
Directions:
  • Measure the girl around the waist and then from the waist down as far as you would like the tutu to go.
  • Cut the elastic band on desired length and after that simply overlap it 2 or 3 inches, and sew it together, believe me the band will star losing up after adding the tulle.
  • Lay the tulle on a flat surface and measure 6 inches wide and twice the length you obtain when measuring; that way when you fold them in half it would be the right length.
  • Cut the stripes and don't worry if the tulle doesn't come out completely straight, it would be unnoticeable after is all done.
  • Now is time to start putting it together, simple get one stripe of tulle and fold it in half, make sure is even, you don't want it to come out shorter in one side and longer in the other.
  • Hold the tip where the tulle folds and pass it under the tulle (I use my own leg as a support it makes it even easier to put together since i just lay down in bed or the couch and do it)
  • With your fingertips simply reach inside the loop we created and pull the leftover tulle trough it.
  • Ok so now is a matter of taste, you can tight it up as strong as you want to make space for more stripes of tulle, and that way make it bigger and fuller or you can simply spread them evenly on the elastic band so it won't be to puffy. You can even add some embellishments as flowers, beads, ribbons, etc.
Either way is still going to be sweet and beautiful once is done, specially after you see it wasn't that hard to do and realize how much money you saved instead of buying it on a store or online.
Good luck to all of you who follow the tutorial, I hope you like it and find it easy to do. Remember to post pictures so i can see your creations :)
