Beirut

Zachary Francis Condon was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico on February 13, 1986.
He was influenced by his famous jazz playing father, and his travels to Europe.
He played trumpet in a jazz band as a teenager and started producing his own music at age 15, at 16 dropped out of school and moved to Eastern Europe, where started as a solo artist with his first (unofficial) album "The Joys of Losing Weight", which he produced under the name "Realpeople", this album has more of a techno feel and was never released but it can be available through downloads online.

Zach recorded the bulk of the material used for Gulag Orkestar (1st official Beirut album, released on May 9, 2006) by himself in his bedroom, going into the studio to finish the album with the assistance of Jeremy Barnes (Neutral Milk Hotel, A Hawk and a Hacksaw) and Heather Trost (A Hawk and a Hacksaw), who became early members of the indie folkband band along with some friends that Zachary recruited to play the music live for their first shows in New York...this is how Beirut was born.

Their first official music video was for the song "Elephant Gun". The second video was for the song "Postcards from Italy" both of them are my favorite tunes of this great band album.

Beirut's second album, The Flying Club Cup, was recorded largely at a makeshift studio in Albuquerque and completed at Arcade Fire's studio in Quebec and released on October 2007. The music on the album has a big French influence and the reviews are quite good.

Zachary plays a rotary valve flugelhorn and the ukulele as his main instruments. He bought the ukulele as a joke stage prop, but found he liked the sound and was able to play it despite a wrist injury that inhibited him from playing guitar. He also plays the trumpet, euphonium, mandolin, accordion, various keyboard instruments, and a modified conch shell that appears on The Flying Club Cup.
In late July of 2010, Zach married Kristianna Smith, a photographer from New Mexico. If you want to check some of her work click "Here"

One can only dream

When i was like 10 years old I fell in love with Italy.
It all started when me and my sister attended this Italian School "Nostra Signora Di Pompei" (Our Lady of Pompei) managed mostly by Italian catholic priests....or at least that's how i remember it. They would teach Italian as part of their school regular classes and i was really excited about it, i had made the decision that i was going to take advantage of it and learn it really good, only to discover that it was a subject to be teach until the 5th Grade and i was about to start the 6th grade. I was so sad and disappointed :(
My neighbor and best friend at the time, however, was a student at the same school since she was little and that's where she ultimately graduated from. She would have me practice her Italian homework with her and i would happily do it...What a little Nerd!
I learn quite a few things and the language was so captivating, that even now as a grownup i still find myself many times saying "I wish i could speak Italian"
I hope i can actually learn it one day.
I also hope i can go there on a trip and visit as many places as i can, take lots of pictures, eat until my belly hurts & drink wine and watch the sunset, hopefully with my significant other. :)
...:::Sigh:::...One can only dream
One day I'll be able to do it, for now i gotta travel the cheapest way i know....Google images Ha!!
Here are a few of my favorite pics so far....i hope you enjoy them ;)

Academy Awards

The Oscars are over and the opinions are already pouring on TV and all over the Internet, some called it awkward, others boring and many others (like me) decided to change the channel and find something better to watch, I ended up watching "Goodfellas" browsing online for a new hairstyle and getting my Hollywood gossip up to date lol. But we just cant avoid talking about the Academy Award...can't we? so here are my 2 cents.
In my opinion, they were Boring!!!
I mean, I loved seeing James Franco's perpetual grin for a while ;) and I think he and Anne Hathaway did a good job hosting but sadly there were quite many awkward moments with other presenting couples and overall even some of the jokes were not even funny.
Now, about the looks I gotta say i my favorite were:

Sandra Bullock

Celine Dion

Jennifer Hudson

Mila Kunis

But i know everyone loves the worst dressed...so i went ahead and picked my favorite hot messes and they are:

Helena Bonham Carter
:
Well, by now people should not be surprised that she has made it to the list..she is always a hot mess, but who cares? she is very talented.

Michelle Williams:
Booooringggg.....was her dress made by amish people? seriously girl...it's Hollywood not tea time over your grandma's house!!!

Scarlet Johanson:
The color, the fabric choice, THE HAIR..!!! so wrong =/

Nicole Kidman

Marisa Tomei

So there you have it...that is my little input on the subject.
what did you think of the Oscars this year?
